![]() 3) Book Choir of Man (the show) online when the reservations open (which is same day as online checkin opens). We got the times we wanted this way and there was no line to make reservations when we got there and a huge one by the time we were done. 2) Immediately go to make reservations for all of your meals, including the free ones in the main dining rooms, when you get on the ship. Make sure to check in as soon as online check in is available to get the best embarkation time. My tips for a smooth trip: 1) Sign up for the earliest embarkation time - we were in the first general boarding group - Group 2 with a 9:30 am arrival and embarkation was super smooth and easy. Another con, NCL does a poor job with communication - both before and during the cruise so you have to figure out things by yourself - e.g. Service can be spotty - some inexperienced servers, rude employees in the photography studio, long lines at Guest Services, cabin steward who did his job but never otherwise spoke to us, but overall, the service was solid and the workers have a good attitude. Overall, service is excellent - not a glass or plate is left on any table for long. First, the Encore is a beautiful ship - well-maintained, very clean and modern. We are not huge cruise fans and took the trip with qualms but overall, everything turned out great. This was my third cruise and we were a total party of 8 that included older teens. Overall, we had a great experience and I believe that with some extra planning and adjusted expectations, you can have a great trip on the Encore. Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan, Victoria BC and back home. I will continue to Use Norwegian Cruise lines for my now future cruising from here on out. Magic show was also great - audience participation games in the Atrium were awesome. The Choir of Man is a must see for sure - we saw 2 different comedians 1 family friendly, 1 not so much but both hilarious. The Entertainment on our Alaskan Cruise was fun, exciting and engaging. ![]() We did not wait but only once because Choir of Man was getting out - which is a 5 star show to see if you ever get a chance. It is a very large ship with banks of elevators (with restrooms located by every elevator bank), but if you know where you are going and follow your instincts and use the same elevators it's not an issue. Specialty Dining was Ocean Blue and Teppanyaki both of which were exceptional food, service and experience. Our room was cleaned daily exceptionally. If walking is an issue, you may want to think twice as there is quite of bit of walking, on board and when you dock at the various Ports. I found the Staff from our Stateroom attendant to every waitress, bartenders (especially on the pool deck Surf Bar), the Casino, customer service and everything in between to be very cordial, helpful, friendly and pleasant. Yes seating in the Garden Cafe (which is the buffet), is difficult if you go at 7 or 8 for breakfast - 12 for lunch and 5 or 6 for dinner, but if we went on the slightly off hours we had no problem at all finding seating for a party of 7. ![]() it was fantastic! Yes there are a lot of people.
